The Dallas Stars had a chance to move into a tie for eight place in the Western Conference standings at 58 points with a win over Pacific Division rival Phoenix Coyotes, but they fell short 4-1 Wednesday night, at the American Airlines Center. Radim Vrbata led the Coyotes with a goal and an assist and former Stars goalie Mike Smith made 28 saves.
“We weren’t very good again, even with a real good goalie performance,” Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan said after the game. “We got outworked by a team that played last night.”
