Hill returning to Phoenix Suns

A person with knowledge of the deal says Grant Hill is returning to the Phoenix Suns, agreeing to terms on a one-year, $6.5 million contract.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity Friday because the deal had not been signed.

One of Phoenix’s most popular players, Hill was a top target in the free agent market, pursued by numerous teams before deciding to return for a fifth season in the desert.

NHL wants faster Phoenix Coyotes deal

The National Hockey League aims to keep the Phoenix Coyotes in Glendale but the league isn’t interested in continuing its current arrangement with the city, NHL.com reported Tuesday.

“Our anticipation is this shouldn’t go on and probably won’t go on another year with us owning the club and the City of Glendale doing what it’s doing to support the building with the Coyotes in there,” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman told a reporter for the league-owned website. “But, you never know what is going to happen. Our hope continues to be it gets sold in the not too distant future to a buyer for Glendale.”

Goudeau’s victims — eight of them women — ranged from a beautiful 19-year-old girl who dreamed of being a lawyer to a 39-year-old mother of three and preschool teacher on her way to a Christmas party.

Phoenix expect fire-breathing opening

WELLINGTON PHOENIX skipper Andrew Durante has seen enough of Sydney FC to know they’ll be desperate to avenge last week’s loss, warning his teammates to expect an early barrage at Westpac Stadium tomorrow.

Sydney coach Vitezslav Lavicka lay down the law at training during the week, pushing his players to snap the lethargy that has led to a bad habit of conceding the opening goal.
